Three years ago today, I lost the love of my life. Today's post is devoted to him.
A PhD renaissance man
A mentor, die-hard Phillies fan
Communicator
Master debater
Alas, not a great handyman
Brilliant yet never stopped learning
Fire in his belly was burning
An eclectic reader
Playful ringleader
Musical tastes quite discerning
A joke teller extraordinaire
A leader whose talents were rare
A brilliant engineer
A remarkable career
Had thick envy-invoking hair
Taught often through story telling
His arguments were quite compelling
His nature magnetic
And empathetic
But often corrected my spelling
Liked to work hard and have fun
Most of his battles he won
Professor-adjunct
Retirement, he flunked
But alas, hobbies he had none
Knew all the words to most tunes
With me climbed many sand dunes
An uncle, a friend
Loyal to the end
My soulmate who left me too soon
Ms. Jenny is a retired aviation executive. She spent much of her career bringing disparate groups together to forge consensus on some of the toughest issues separating them. She is motivated by any opportunity to make a positive difference in the world. Her passion for addressing the needs of less fortunate has driven her retirement life. Her poetry is aimed at shining the light on and refuting lies, giving voice the vulnerable among us, and forging a strong and sustaining resistance to the attempted unraveling of our democracy. She holds an MS in Computer Science and an AB in Sociology.
That was beautiful MJ. Jack was a great man.
A beautiful tribute. Sorry for your loss
Thanks for that tribute to the best person I worked for and with!
As the James Bond song says “Nobody did it Better”!
He is missed.
