Limerick: BLM Plaza (6/6/20)

It’s 52 years to the day
Since the tragic death of RFK
Racism still thrives
Cutting short lives
Maybe now we will make some headway

“Our House” has become a fortress
We all wish that Trump would just spend less
time on dividing
And in bunkers hiding
And working to destroy the press

Borrowing from the playbook of Vlad
Mystery forces are clad
With guns and with shields
On so-called battlefields
I fear Trump has finally gone mad

Billy Barr knows that he blew it
“I said, Get it done, not, Go do it”
Is his new gyration
To a doubting nation
‘cause Trump’s blaming him and he knew it

Our Mayor did not ask for aid
Or a hastily build barricade
She did not retreat
Made a BLM street
A bright shiny new promenade

And meanwhile with all these distractions
Trump takes some very bad actions
Lets pipelines go through
Without states’ review
Cowing to the big oil factions

He’w now feeling much agitation
Cause Merkle spurned his invitation
He pulls the troops out
Leaving little doubt
A toddler is leading our nation

Of a moral compass he’s void
He invokes the good name of George Floyd
He shows no compassion
He just tries to cash in
Democracy he has destroyed

Meanwhile hotels he does ban
From Cuba, to help with his plan
when no longer in power
to build a trump tower
and build one as soon as he can

And we should all now be quite wary
a protected marine sanctuary
is now open to
commercial firms who
will fish all they want, this is scary

Around the White House he erected
A wall, though the Mayor objected
Done in 3 days
yet still can’t find ways
from COVID to keep us protected

To the bunker Trump made his retreat
Which he then denied in a tweet
He called Bowser lame
Then a road she renamed
He now lives on BLM Street
