Saving Our Democracy (11-23-21)

GOP’s waging culture wars
Ensuring the Trump vulture scores
Offer no solutions
Threatens retribution
For all those who are not Trump’s whores

The Dems tent is large and inclusive
And sometime agreement’s elusive
Though many are vehement
They do reach agreement
Of good government, they are conducive

Death threats? they look the other way
Insurrection? they have nothing to say
Because Trump commands
GOP wash their hands
Voters must say, “NOT OK!”

The Dems work to fund our priorities
Who wants these? of Americans, the majority
Paid family leave
Safe air to breath
Yet fought by Mitch and the minority

Fair wages, clean water, clear air
For all, affordable healthcare 
Safe transportation
Across the nation
Build Back Better shows that we care

The corporate tax breaks didn’t work
Responsibilities, CEOs did shirk
Left to their devices
They just raised prices
To make sure they get all their perks

But if GOP has its way
Some voters’ rights will go away
With districts redrawn
They won’t need to depend on
A fair election to win the day

So, let’s make priority one
Getting Voting Rights Act done
And gerrymandering
Be no longer a thing
Let’s not let democracy be undone
