SO LONG, 2021 (12-31-21)

2021 cannot end soon enough
Yes, this year has been long and tough
Pandemic won’t quit
Our country is split
You just cannot make up this stuff

January 6th Insurrection
They tried to steal the election
Then Mitch, the buffoon
He changed his toon
Just to keep his Trump connection

Then came the inauguration
First woman VP in our nation
We welcomed Joe
As we watched Trump go
With a sigh of relief and elation

March Biden says by July 4th
We can all be free to come forth
On that COVID frowned
And kept us locked down
A new normal it seems henceforth

April brought Georgia’s new law
To voting rights took a buzz saw
Build Back Better introduced
Which just induced
GOP to hem and haw

In May, COVID restrictions relaxed
Still many Americans won’t get vaxed
Texas voting bill
Sends down my spine a chill
On Fox lies win out over facts

In June, they repeat the big lie
From COVID thousands more people die
Rudy’s disbarred
Insurrectionist work hard
To say that they are the good guys

Florida, Missouri and Texas
In July are the COVID Nexus
Half of all cases
Came from these places
And their stupidity affects us

In August, DeSantis did declare
Kids should not have to wear
Masks while in school
They’ll feel bad, said the fool
As his actions just fuel this nightmare

In August we left Afghanistan
After 20 years without a good plan
Afghans we did train
Was all in vain
Lying in wait were the Taliban

At Olympics, US women did shine
Won bronze, silver, gold this time
Winning 60 percent
They did cement
The legacy of title IX

October, Infrastructure Bill passed
Against it, GOP was steadfast
Opposition, they led it
Then they took credit
For new roads and bridges, so fast

When we thought we were almost done
From Africa came Omicron
Twice as contagious
This is outrageous
This pandemic just goes on and on

November saw COP26
Global warming, they were going to fix
Plans, up they did draw
Greta said “blah, blah, bah”
No action just more politics

Virginia Trump’s candidate won
On parental control he did run
Against CRT
For book burning, he
On the topic of guns remained mum

In December on abortion rights
SCOTUS has now set their sights
On overturning
Roe and returning
Women to a very dark plight

In December we learned pre-debate
Trump had COVID, oh, but wait
He did not divulge
In the debate did indulge
Made no attempt to isolate

The year looks quite bad in hindsight
But the James Webb satellite took flight
COVID’s not over
but Mars had a Rover
Alas, the world lost Betty White

So long to you 2021
With COVID and lies, we are done
But we’ll keep fighting both
And hope from their oath
GOP won’t continue to run
