John Lewis: 1940 -2020 (7-18-20)

He’d an innate ability
To persuade with civility
He bled to win rights
But in all of his fights
He acted with humility

He fought against all segregation
Did not fear brutal altercations
Called "Congress’ Conscience”
He was the staunchest
Defender of a free and just nation

A treasure our nation has lost
So many bridges he crossed
We must vow today
To find a way
To keep his legacy alive at all cost
