TOO Little, TOO Late (1/7/21)

They’ve let Trump do whatever he pleases
Now GOP lawmakers’ve found Jesus
They’re worried about their fate
But it’s too little, too late
Still, they’ll impeach him after hell freezes
 
One by one they expressed their outrage
At the very thing their leader egged
His followers to do
Led to violence, who knew?
4-years enablers now disengage?
 
How did they think this would end?
Knowing Trump has gone far ’round the bend
They never pushed back
They own this attack
Our democracy they did not defend
 
Like rats leaving a sinking ship
Over each other they trip
Courage, they have none
They’re on the run
From any blame or ownership
