A murder being witnessed by a teen
She knew she could not intervene

With poise she recorded the scene
Darnella bore witness to the crime
So, justice could be served this time
But in filming this drama
She suffered a trauma
And will have a long hill to climb

*Police Report: “He was ordered to step from his car. After he got out, he physically resisted officers. Officers were able to get the suspect into handcuffs and noted he appeared to be suffering medical distress. Officers called for an ambulance. He was transported to Hennepin County Medical Center by ambulance where he died a short time later.”"At no time were weapons of any type used by anyone involved in this incident. The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension has been called in to investigate this incident at the request of the Minneapolis Police Department."No officers were injured in the incident. Body worn cameras were on and activated during this incident."
Ms. Jenny is a retired aviation executive. She spent much of her career bringing disparate groups together to forge consensus on some of the toughest issues separating them. She is motivated by any opportunity to make a positive difference in the world. Her passion for addressing the needs of less fortunate has driven her retirement life. Her poetry is aimed at shining the light on and refuting lies, giving voice the vulnerable among us, and forging a strong and sustaining resistance to the attempted unraveling of our democracy. She holds an MS in Computer Science and an AB in Sociology.
