As we head to this year’s election
Let’s pause for some needed reflection
The GOP caved
To a POTUS who paved
The way for a bold insurrection
5 years ago, on this day
Democracy cracked to make way
For a dictatorship
So, power we’ll strip
From those who believe that’s OK
This ain’t about retribution
It’s sure as hell a revolution
To take US back
Get us back on track
Voting is the best solution
That is unless you’re OK
With billionaires defining our way
You can’t look away
Or hope and pray
That your rights will not slip away
People were injured, some died
About that Trump has only lied
If you’re poor or black
He’s not got you back
About this you must be clear-eyed
On that day a misguided mob
Did our democracy try to rob
So, stand up for truth
Get to the booth
As a voter, I think it’s your job
