Police just a speed dial away
armored backpack
prepared for attack
If the GOP has their way
Good shoes for running away
So, you’ll live ‘til your next birthday
It’s the new norm,
the new uniform
And a style that says you’re not gay
Yes, backpack with survival gear
Some meds to alleviate fear
It’s the new look
not much room for books
How they will learn is not clear
Teachers with guns will protect’m
So, shooters cannot vivisect’m
in what universe…
Is this not perverse?
The GOP, we must reject’m
Ms. Jenny is a retired aviation executive. She spent much of her career bringing disparate groups together to forge consensus on some of the toughest issues separating them. She is motivated by any opportunity to make a positive difference in the world. Her passion for addressing the needs of less fortunate has driven her retirement life. Her poetry is aimed at shining the light on and refuting lies, giving voice the vulnerable among us, and forging a strong and sustaining resistance to the attempted unraveling of our democracy. She holds an MS in Computer Science and an AB in Sociology.
